It has been shown that a subgrade layer of TDA can help mitigate the depth of frost penetration and associated effects that contribute to frost heave.  This application has been demonstrated in Delaware County, New York since 2001 and in several other states as well.  Although there is currently no national database of TDA road subgrade projects, additional information on successful applications is available through the Rubber Manufacturers’ Association.  The NYS TDA Program will continue to work with partner organizations and others on this beneficial application.
