New York State Tire Derived Aggregate Workshop, June 2009
The first New York State Tire Derived Aggregate (TDA) Workshop was held on June 2nd, 2009 in Buffalo, New York. The Workshop attracted sixty people from across New York and over ten other states, as well as Canada. Attendees included tire recyclers and TDA suppliers; local, state and federal government officials; design engineers; researchers; students; and equipment suppliers.
The NYS TDA Workshop was a unique educational experience as it brought together a group of presenters’ focused solely on the history, technical performance and practical considerations of the use of Tire Derived Aggregate in civil engineering applications. Presenters included researchers from the University at Maine, Clemson University, and the University at Buffalo. Representatives of states including California, Minnesota, South Carolina, and Virginia that have established programs using TDA in public infra-structure projects shared their experiences and project results.
The NYS TDA Workshop was organized by the New York State Tire Derived Aggregate Program, located at the University at Buffalo. Major sponsorship was provided by Empire State Development. Co-sponsors included Modern Corporation, IESI Seneca Meadows Landfill, the New York State Association for Solid Waste Management, the Solid Waste Association of North America – New York Chapter and the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling, Inc.
